send a job
email guidelines
At MGS, we strive towards excellence, accuracy
and attention to details.
To us do our best for you, please follow these
simple steps before sending your job:
- Contact your MGS Sales representative
and obtain a docket number to identify your job.
- Place the file(s) you plan to send to
MGS in a folder.
- Identify the folder with the docket
number you received from your MGS Sales representative prior
to sending the file.
- Take the folder and all its contents
and "stuff" or "zip" it and identify the
"stuff-it" file with your assigned docket number.
(This ensures that your job will be attended to and recognized
as soon as we receive it, as well as ensuring that the files
you send are recognizable as the type of file and program that
they were created in.)
- Include all fonts.
- Include all graphic files that are
linked to the document. (It is important to include all
graphic files even if they are embedded within a document.
Often alterations need to be made to the original linked
files, such as conversion of colours from RGB to CMYK or
the addition of trap to vector images)
- Ensure that all full-colour bitmaps
are CMYK (not RGB)
- Ensure that bitmaps are the
correct resolution (roughly 300 dpi for 133 or 150 linescreen).
Beware of images retrieved from the Internet. They are likely
too low resolution for offset printing) Remove all compression
used when saving your images, and save them only as a "tif"
or "eps" file.
- SUPPLY A PROOF OF YOUR JOB either by
fax or in PDF format to MGS. Our fax number is (780) 465-5443.
Your proof will show us what to expect to receive from your
email. This also helps us establish what the file looks like
and therefore produce the job according to your exact specifications.
If the proof is not the latest version of your file(s), please
forward a revised proof or mark ALL changes on the original
proof sent to MGS.
- "Attach" that file to a new
email message along with a message giving an explanation of
what attachments have been sent, i.e. number of colours; whether
the bitmap images are duotones; platform (MAC or IBM); applications
used and version numbers; fonts used; any problems inherent
with the files. Please include a contact name and telephone
number. Send all pertinent information regarding your print
job in the email message, ie. quantity, stock, colours, size,
and # of pages.
NOTE: Emails larger than 2 MB should be sent to MGS on disk
or to our ftp site. Most service providers have a limit of 2
MB and your email may not arrive if it is over this limit. Avoid
sending large files via email, and compress documents whenever
possible
- Please also indicate the docket number
you received from your sales representative in the subject bar
of your email.
- Address the email to 'mgs@mgsgraphics.com'.and
'SEND' it.
