How can I design my report to have more impact?
Planning: You can’t improve anything without enough time. Your last report may have just been delivered, but you can start planning key dates for your next report now. Even a small annual report might take 8 to 12 weeks to write, design and print. When you have those key dates for the next year in mind, you can share them with your team and help speed up the gathering of stories for next year.
What’s this year’s story? Organizations are always changing – what best describes what your organization has done over the past year? Was it steady growth? Or a major structural change? Or unexpected spike in demand of services? Use what’s happened to choose a unique visual theme to unite the whole report, and help differentiate it from previous years.
Don’t be boring. Design for impact to get people talking about your organization. Allow the design to have pages just for big images, or large type. No one likes to read endless wall to wall text.

Design in clear chunks. Instead of long content that flows from page to page to page, structure the content to fit into spreads. In those spreads, divide the page layout into clear sections.

How much does it cost to print an annual report?
The print cost for a report mostly depends on the quantity of books, the number of pages and how much colour there is throughout the book. Other factors like how it’s bound and paper thickness and quality will affect it as well. To get a cost for your project, start with the number of pages you think your report will have (20 pages, 28 pages etc) and a range of how many books you’ll need (250, 500, 1000). Then speak with one of our reps who can coach you on options and get you accurate pricing.
What is the best size for a report?
A popular format is 8.5 x 11 since it’s easy to convert to a browsable PDF and efficient to print. That said, reports can be manufactured in any number of custom sizes giving your book a unique look.
How long does it take to print an annual report?
From when our client delivers files, we ask our clients to allow about 7 days for printing. That would be for a typical 20-30 page saddlestiched report. That time includes us providing a hard or softcopy proof for you to carefully review before the job is put on press. For smaller quantities of reports the turnaround time can be shorter, especially if it’s run on our digital press.
