Our digital press can print a poster up to 40″ wide!
Our new digital press can print super-wide, or super-tall posters up to 13″ x 40″. Get this new, extra-large size even on small quantities!
What size do you need?
Posters can be made in many sizes, but standard sizes are 8.5 x 11″, 8.5 x 14″ or 11×17″ which can all be printed digitally in small quantities. For larger sizes in volume, we print on our offset press, where we can print thousands of posters up to 24″ x 36″. For even larger sizes, our large format printer can provide one-off and small volume full colour prints.
Papers and substrates to suit your application
We can print on a variety of poster papers such as 100 lb. text, or you can work with our experienced printing staff to choose a heavier paper that will work well for your project.
Posters can be finished with a matte or gloss coating to help colour longevity, and give them a special finish.
Wide format posters
If you need a poster larger than 24″ x 36″, it can be printed on our wide format plotter. This unit can produce beautiful high resolution prints in low quantities. These can be protected with lamination and mounted to foamcore or coroplast to act as short term signage for events.

What sets us apart from other printers? Well, when you print posters, you use a LOT of paper. Our customers want to make sure all that paper comes from responsible sources. That’s one reason we are FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) certified. All of the paper that comes through our print shop can be traced back to the managed forest where the trees were harvested.
On our shop floor, we recycle between 96 to 120 tonnes of paper, and 12 tonnes of cardboard every year. All plastic wraps, packaging and printing plates are also recycled. Our presses use a chemical-free plate processing system, and our inks are vegetable oil-based.

What sizes do posters come in?
Standard poster sizes are 8.5″ x 11″, 8.5″ x 14″ (legal) and 11″ x 17″ (tabloid.) Oversized posters are 18″ x 24″and 24″ x 36″, but you can also customize to any size within the limits of our presses.
What are your minimum quantities?
For our digital press and plotter printing, we have no minimum. For our offset press, we recommend running a minimum of 1000 8.5″ x 11″ posters, or 125 24″ x 36″ posters. The larger the quantity printed on an offset press, the lower the cost per poster.
What kind of paper should I use?
Poster paper comes down to personal preference. Some people prefer high gloss, shiny paper, while others do not like shiny paper and prefer a matte finish. It also depends on if your poster will be used indoors or outdoors, and how long it will be displayed for. Paper choice will also affect pricing, so if you are on a budget, we recommend going with our standard 100 lb. gloss or satin paper which we stock in-house.
How long does it take to print posters?
Capital Colour Press offers quick turnaround for smaller sized posters that are printed on our top of the line digital printer. Typically, it takes one to two business days. For larger posters and higher quantities, it takes about five business days.
