The perfect binding method glues the pages and covers at the spine using strong yet flexible glue. Perfect binding can also be used for directories with higher page counts. Saddle stitch binding uses staples in the directory’s spine to secure the pages but works best with lower page counts.

Remember, your interior page count must be in multiples of four if you are choosing perfect binding or saddle stitching for your directory. Directory pages are created by printing on a large sheet holding four pages, two in the front and two in the back, and then folding that sheet in half.

Saddle stitching is best used for directories that have 100 pages or less. It is the most common and economical method of binding. Saddle stitching works best with lighter weights of paper such as 45-60lb text with 70lb cover.
